XANADOCS-- CONNECTED DOCUMENTSWhen Frode Hegland asked us to present this year, we weren't ready. Nothing is polished or generalized yet. But he asked so very nicely that we had to say yes. Hope it wsn't a mistake.We do not have a product, but a preliminary capability. We believe the future of text has many facets.
It is very different from other computer documents.
It is now possible (but not easy) for anyone who is determined enough to create a xanadoc, and send it to others, who may open and use it. (Note that the World Wide Web was available for several years before the Mosaic editor made it easy for the public.)UNDERSTANDING HOW XANADOCS WORK (skip this if you're in a hurry)This is not HTML or Kansas. There will be many types of xanalink, and we want to carefully trim and select the initial list.However, you may go by our examples. We will endeavor to keep them valid even if the formats change.
